🍰 Ingredients:
For the easy cake:
Cocoa powder 40g (about 5 tablespoons)
Plain Flour 200g (1 and ⅓ cups)
Sugar 200g (1 cup)
Baking powder 1 and ½ teaspoons
Baking soda ⅓ teaspoon
Salt ⅓ teaspoon
Milk 120ml (½ cup)
Vinegar 1/2 tablespoon
Melted Butter 110g (½ cup)
Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon (optional)
Boiling hot water 120ml (½ cup)
2 Eggs (medium size)
Baking pan 2x 8-inch round pans
Measuring cup size – 240 ml
For the Chocolate sauce:
Cocoa 40g (about 5 tablespoons)
Corn starch / Corn flour 2 tablespoons
Sugar 100g (½ cup)
Milk 360ml (1 and ½ cups)
Butter 2 tablespoons
Chocolate 150g
Gelatine 5g (about 1 teaspoon)
Warm milk 3 tablespoons
For the topping:
Melted dark chocolate
Sprinkles
Method:
Make the cake:
Mix all the dry cake ingredients together.
Add the rest of the cake ingredients, and the milk mixture.
Mix well.
Pour into lined baking pans equally.
Then bake.
Bake in a preheated oven at 175c (350f) for about 25 minutes.
Make the Chocolate sauce:
Mix Cocoa, corn starch and sugar in a pan.
Add the milk and mix well.
Now cook over medium low heat.
Stir continuously.
The mixture gradually thickens.
When it comes to a sauce texture, take off from the heat.
Add the butter and mix well while it is hot.
Then add the chocolate and mix well.
Mix the gelatine with the warm milk.
Add this to the sauce and mix well.
Now line the same baking pan with cling film.
Place one cake inside.
Pour half the sauce.
Place the other cake over it.
Press gently.
Pour the other sauce half over it.
Cover and leave it to set overnight.
Once set and chilled, take it out of the baking pan.
Smooth the cake as much as you can.
Cover with chocolate sprinkles.
Drizzle with melted chocolate.
