What would you call this dish?
This was one of my family’s favorite dishes but I don’t have a good name for this recipe. I start out by coating my beef in cornstarch and searing in some canola oil, I then flip and let it brown for a couple minutes on the other side to seal all the juices before setting it aside. In a separate bowl I add brown sugar, ginger, soy sauce, fish sauce, and red chili flakes to a bowl with a couple cups of water. I then add my sauce to my instant pot with my meat and cook it for 18 minutes with high pressure but you can also cook this in a pot on the stove for a couple hours until the meat is tender. One can thicken this with a cornstarch and water slurry but my family and I enjoy the shredded meat and broth over rice topped with green onions. Do you know what this dish should be called?
