THIT KHO TRUNG RECIPE
thit kho trung is such a staple in any vietnamese household. i use to eat this as a kid ALL the time so i never cooked it very often. Who else was traumatized by this dish as a kid? 😂🙋‍♀️

I decided this was the dish I’d make to introduce the one and only @grubwitmike to other vietnamese food that isn’t so well known. Thit kho trung is a vietnamese braised pork belly dish with eggs!! I packed some of it togo for him to try so stay tuned for his video so you can get his honest review!! 👀

(ɔ◔‿◔)ɔ Ingredients
♥ 2-3 lbs of pork belly
♥ 5-6 hard boiled eggs
♥ 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
♥ 2 tablespoon chopped shallots
♥ 1 can of coco rico
♥ 1 cup water
♥ 3 tbs cup fish sauce
♥ 1 tbs cup oyster sauce
♥ 2 – 3 thia chilis
♥ 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
♥ 1 teaspoon msg (optional)

Caramelized sauce:
♥ 1 tablespoon cooking oil
♥ 2 tablespoon sugar

Instructions ( ˘▽˘)っ♨

PREP
1) Parboil your pork belly with salt for about 10 minutes and slice your pork belly into cubes when done

COOK
2) In a pot add oil and sugar. Wait for the sugar to turns dark brown
3) Throw in your meat, garlic, and shallots until every thing is nicely caramelized and golden
4) Add coconut soda, water, fish sauce, oyster sauce, and msg
5) Let it come up to a boil and remove any scums from the water.
6) Cover and reduced heat to low for 15 minutes.
7) After the first 15 minutes, uncover and add in the hard boiled eggs and
