INGREDIENTS:
1 cup milk
6 large eggs
8 thick slices white bread (cut in half on the diagonal)
8 slices ham
8 slices turkey
6 oz grated gruyere cheese
DIRECTIONS:
1. Whisk to combine milk and eggs. Set aside. In a 9 x 12 baking dish, place pieces bread with pointed side up into pan. Add 1 slice of ham and turkey and a couple tablespoons cheese between every other piece of bread. Pour egg mixture evenly over the top and let rest for 20 minutes on counter, or cover and refrigerate overnight.
2. If stored overnight, let dish rest on counter for 20 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake for 30-40 minutes until lightly browned and cheese is melted in the center of the dish. Serve with fresh raspberries and raspberry preserves with a light dusting of powdered sugar, if desired.
PRO TIPS:
1. Texas toast bread works great for this recipe.
2. Add 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup to the egg mixture before pouring over the bread for a sweeter variation.
